Her boyfriend was on set for the shoot and brought two suitcases that Jane had packed with items for the shoot.
She had some great, big dramatic, poofy dresses and, some lovely vintage dresses, jewelry and gloves.
The first dress she brought was an amazing lilac colored tube top dress with a long layered skirt. It had a lot of visual interest in its shape and texture and as soon as I saw it, I knew that would be at the top of shoot list. There was no way I was going to miss out on shooting a dress like that.
What I really loved was that I could tell Jane really understood the idea board I had sent her for the shoot and everything she brought really played off of the vision I had shared with her.
For the hair, I really wanted to show it off so I decided to do a faux-hawk look on top and have her hair poof out on the side, a modern, edgy, elegant, debutante inspired theme.
Paired with dark eyes and red lips, the look came together great.
The feeling I wanted was to see this beautiful debutante waiting for her suitor to come and pick her up for the ball. All dressed up and no where to go.
I placed her in the window frame and to add to the drama to the story and used 1 flash fitted with a snoot. Which gave the image heavy vignetting adding to the old time vintage feel of the image.
I choose to keep the accessories to a minimum so not to distract from the dress, which was the main highlight and on set I added a bit of extra tulle underneath the skirt to add even more volume to it.
I was really happy with the way the look came together, a great melting of many contradictory elements.
